The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a stakeholder-owned system whose purpose is to promote responsible global forest management. It provides standard setting, trademark guarantee, accreditation services and market access for companies and organizations interested in responsible forests. As of January 2006, FSC has accredited 15 certification bodies, and certified companies have the right to use the FSC logo.

Step 1. Apply for certification (preliminary negotiation)

      According to FSC requirements, forest farms, wood processing (including other wood products, such as: pulp, paper, paper, printing, packaging, stationery, gifts, furniture, home furnishings, etc.) or trading companies decide to apply for FSC certification. Judge the expected value of success based on the basic materials of the applicant company and formulate the FSC certification plan. Step two, sign the contract

Step three. Certification consulting training preparation

        The enterprise conducts internal training, documentation, identification, rehearsal, etc. according to the requirements of FSC principles. Or hire a third-party certification consulting company to provide professional guidance to assist the company to pass FSC forest certification at one time.

Step four, review and evaluation

      The evaluation is carried out under the arrangement of the FSC certification company. The main content of the assessment is:

      1. Product identification;

      2. Product separation (certified and non-certified raw materials);

      3. Establish files (including records);

       4. Training and staff information;

      5. The choice of the company's applicable system;

     6. Confirmation of product group;

     7. Correct use of FSC logo and trademark.

 Step 5, certification report

     On the basis of the evaluation, the certifying party forms a report. The report either considers the assessment to be qualified, or proposes deficiencies that need to be improved. The report will be sent directly to the certification decision-making committee for subsequent evaluation.

Step six, issuance and registration

     If all steps are positive results, the company will be awarded a certificate. If necessary, you can also attach some conditions until these conditions are met within the specified time. The activities of using certificates in the market and the role of the registered FSC (organic certification, etc.) logo mark will be strictly controlled.

Step 7. Evaluation management (annual review)

      At certain intervals (usually once a year), in order to check the implementation of the conditions defined in the report, the certification personnel will conduct a short and on-site audit of the company. Records, access control of materials and products, and the use of FSC marks are the main aspects of the audit.
