Chinas forest certification system is in line with the world

On March 7, a sustainable management forest certification seminar with the theme of "China's forest certification system in line with international standards" was held in Shenzhen. There is a big gap between Chinese corporate standards and international advanced standards. When we conducted a pilot project in 2010, we found that there was a big gap between the requirements of the standard and the status quo of business operations. For example, in the area of environmental assessment, forest management units must build roads and habitually borrow nearby soil. The certification standards require companies to have a plan for road digging and to assess the impact of road construction on the surrounding area. How about this impact will be smaller. BSCI-certified companies must have measures to restore the topography. Through the demonstration work, the company's awareness in this area can be improved, both at the leadership level and the front-line staff level. Another issue is the rights and interests of workers. In the past, some companies did not abide by the laws and regulations on workers' rights. After the mutual recognition of CFCC and PEFC, we require companies to abide by national laws and regulations and sign international conventions with us in terms of labor rights to protect the rights of workers. PEFC certification needs to have four major elements, and national standards must be formulated at the beginning. In China, the national system is a national standard represented by the China Forest Certification Committee, which is mutually recognized with PEFC. The second element is to have an independent third-party certification body. The third element of organic certification is to have an accreditation body. To start certification in China, it must be approved by CNCA at the beginning. This is an administrative license, and you cannot go directly to the Industrial and Commercial Bureau to register. Then, the accreditation body provides technical certification and review personnel. All kinds of certification must go to the accreditation agency to do the qualification recognition, and then you can start business. The fourth element is PEFC to formulate PEFC rules including logo.
