It can be fixed on the ground or wall and installed in public buildings (public buildings, shopping malls, public parking lots, etc.) and residential district parking lots or charging stations. It can be based on different voltage levels. Charge various types of electric vehicles. The input end of the charging pile is directly connected to the AC grid, and the output end is equipped with a charging plug for charging electric vehicles. Charging piles generally provide two charging methods: conventional charging and fast charging. People can use a specific charging card to swipe the card on the human-computer interaction interface provided by the charging pile to perform operations such as the corresponding charging method, charging time, and cost data printing. The charging pile display screen can display data such as charging capacity, cost, and charging time.


As of the end of June 2020, the number of various charging piles nationwide has reached 1.322 million, of which 558,000 are public charging piles, ranking first in the world.


Function


The charging pile (bolt) can be used for timing, metering, and metering charging, and can be used as a terminal for citizens to purchase electricity. At the same time, in order to improve the efficiency and practicability of public charging piles (bolts), the functions of a pile (bolt) for multi-charging and charging electric bicycles will be gradually added in the future.

In 2006, BYD built Shenzhen's first electric vehicle charging station at its Shenzhen headquarters.


In 2008, during the Beijing Olympic Games, a centralized charging station was built in China, which can meet the power battery charging needs of 50 pure electric buses.


In October 2009, Shanghai Electric Power Company invested in the construction of Shanghai Caoxi Electric Vehicle Charging Station, which is a domestic electric vehicle charging station with commercial operation functions. At the end of 2009, Beijing Shouke Group completed the construction of a domestic demonstration charging station for pure electric passenger vehicles in Beijing including a complete intelligent micro-grid in Jianxiang Bridge.


On December 31, 2009, the first batch of electric vehicle charging stations (piles) put into operation by China Southern Power Grid was completed and put into operation in Shenzhen, with a construction scale of 2 charging stations and 134 charging piles (bolts).


On March 31, 2010, the Tangshan Nanhu Charging Station of State Grid Corporation was completed and put into operation. It is the first typical design charging station of the State Grid in my country. It can charge 10 electric vehicles at the same time in two ways: fast charging and slow charging.


As of the end of 2019, the number of charging piles in China exceeded 1.2 million.


On April 14, 2020, the State Grid launched the first batch of 126 charging pile projects. In 2020, it plans to arrange an investment of 2.7 billion yuan in charging pile projects, distributed in 24 provinces (cities) including Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei, covering public , Special purpose, logistics, environmental sanitation, community and port shore power and other types. Among them, there are 53,000 charging piles in residential areas, 18,000 public charging piles, and 7,000 special charging piles, which will help fill in the shortcomings of the residential areas such as charging difficulties and insufficient platform interconnection.

As of September 2020, China has built a total of 42,000 charging stations, 525 swap stations, 1.42 million charging piles of various types, and a vehicle-to-stack ratio of approximately 3.1:1. China has built a large-scale charging network in the world (on November 3, 2020, the State Council Information Office held a regular briefing on the State Council’s policies).


As of March 2021, members of the alliance have reported a total of about 851,000 public charging piles, including 355,000 DC charging piles, 495,000 AC charging piles, and 481 AC/DC integrated charging piles.
